PRE-CONGRESS FORUM FOR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES.
4-5 November, El Castellano Hotel, Mérida, Yucatán, México.
Cost: $90, can be added to online registrations or booked through The WILD Foundation (303) 442 8811

HISTORY
During the days preceding the 8th World Wilderness Congress, a group of government managers gathered to discuss common challenges and management approaches.  Many great ideas were shared and new global connections were developed.

WILD9
To build on those relationships from the past Congress, the organizers of WILD9, the 9th World Wilderness Congress, would like to offer a pre-Congress opportunity for government agencies to network with other protected area managers from around the world. The goal for the 2009 government forum is to consider implications and strategies during a time of climate change. Enrollment is limited to 200 people, so register early. The Pre-Congress Government Forum has an additional cost of $90 USD.

LOCATION
The 2009 Forum for Government Agencies will take place at El Castellano Hotel in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico.  http://www.amigoyucatan.com/  To provide for easy access to the forum activities, participants are encouraged to secure lodging at this hotel  for November 3-5.  The two-day forum will include a field trip on Wednesday November 4 and a workshop at the hotel on Thursday November 5.

CELESTUN FIELD TRIP
We begin on November 4 with a field trip which will depart from the El Castellano Hotel at 7:00 a.m. We will be travelling to Celestun Biosphere Reserve, where the Director and staff will join us for the day to discuss climate change impacts and strategies. http://yucatantoday.com/en/topics/day-trip-celestun

WORKSHOP
On the second day of the forum, November 5, participants will gather in the El Cid and Asturias Rooms to discuss eight unique topics.  During this day, we will provide opportunities for developing lasting relationships that extend beyond WILD9, provide opportunities to continue to work on specific ideas/projects between Congresses and allow every participant to be involved with brief and in-depth discussions.  We will emphasize small group discussions, opportunities for individual networking and a few large group presentations.
