Enjoy longer Celestun. Stay one night at the Eco Paraiso Hotel in the coastal dune of the beach. Walk thru unspoiled landscapes of unique animal and plant life. Find up to six endemic birds, like the Yucatan Woodpecker, the Yucatan (Orange) Oriol, the Yucatan Bobwhite (an endemic form Bobwhite), and the Black Catbird.
Take the tour boat to see Caribbean Flamingos at the estuaryand thru the mangroves. Try the different beach restaurants. Have dinner under the starts. Sleep at the rhythm of the waves. Local Guides from the Hotel offer daily activities and tours. Bring your binoculars or rent the ones offered by your Guide.
You will learn from the Reserve and PPY staff about the work being done to maintain more than 123 000 acres of mangrove forest, coastal dune, dry-shrub forest, savannas and wetlands. Local group of Birding Guides, “Los Peregrinos”, will take you on a guided bird tour by the dune trails.
Departing Merida at 9:00 AM first day.
Returning from Celestun at 8 PM next day.
Includes transportation back and forth Merida-Celestun, one-day boat tour, and entrance fees. Food and soft drinks.
Day One:
8:00 AM Depart Merida
10:30 AM Arrive at Hotel Ecoparaiso Xixim for check-in
11:00 AM Welcome Brunch at the beach-side pool
3:00 PM Talk with Reserve staff and with PPY personnel about Celestun Biosphere Reserve conservation programs and research.
5:00 Visit to a local bakery and pick your “pan dulce” for dinner
Walk through the town sand streets. Have a popsicle.
5:00 PM Birding and walking tour by the coastal dunes around the Hotel.
7:00 PM Dinner

Day Two:
6:00 AM Departure for dock (20 minutes drive) to take guided boat tour thru the estuary and mangrove channels. Watch for pink flamingoes and many other aquatic birds, shorebirds and waders.
11:00 Brunch at a local restaurante (La Palapa).
3:00 5:00 Beach time and check-out.
Time to buy art crafts from beach stands.
6:00 Departure to Merida.
