Ridgeway helms Patagonia’s environmental grant-making and education programs. He also manages Patagonia Productions, the company’s book publishing and film-making division and oversees its special multi-year environmental projects. One project, Freedom to Roam, helps provide protection for wildlife corridors.
An Emmy award-winning filmmaker and noted nature and adventure photographer, Ridgeway’s international reputation as one of the world’s foremost mountaineers and adventurers prompted Rolling Stone magazine to call him “the real Indiana Jones”. Mr. Ridgeway has also authored six books and more than forty articles which have appeared in Outside, National Geographic and other magazines. Before joining Patagonia, he was owner and President of Adventure Photo & Film, one of the world’s leading outdoor stock photo and film agencies. Ridgeway, who was recently honored with National Geographic’s “Lifetime Achievement in Adventure” award, lives with his wife in Ojai, California.
